AVe last week published E. P. Allen s diselaimer, concemingthe charge made that lie said if a person asked a republican to vote the democratie ticket he ought to be shot in his tracks. Xow comes the stenograplier, and files with us tlie following affldavit, and Mr. Alr len can answer it at his leisure. ïhe evidence is against him stron,'ly. State of Michigan. g County of Lenawee. J " Levant Brown being duly sworn says that he is 30 years of age, and is a slnoeraper who was present at tlmison Mieh and be took in short hand notes the speech of E. P. Allen of Ysilanti Mich!, delivered at the aforesaid time andplace, and that the following is a a trne copv of a portion of his notes: "Some of you women may have been mothers of those men that went out from your streets here, to put down the democratie rebellion, andto-night sleep in these graves in your cemetery. Yes sleep in their graves, and I want to say to you that the man who fought witli Lee iind Jackson will vote the democratie ticket, and that in the light of these facts Uie man tnat snouia as me or Bhould ask you to vote tl ie democratie ticket, ought to be shot in lus tracks."
