Saline, Dec. 28. - The blaeksmiths do tho most of the business now-a-days. - Miss Lizzie Walker will spend the winter in the central city. - County clerk Clark spent Christmns with bis brotber-in-law Arthur LeBa- Mrs. E. B. Clark of Ann Arbor, spent Christmas with her sister Airs. A. L,eBaron. - Miss Lillian Mills has gone to Detroit on a visit to her sister Mis. II. ÍI. Humphrey. - Mr. Samuel Moore is quite siek with inflammation of the lungs. Dr. Nichols is attending bim. -Mr. Truman Carpenter who i3 iti )usiness in Chicago, is c a vlsit to bis 'amily for the holidays. -Hughes and Ward (minus the Hughes) made a fine talk at the Chapel on Sunday iright, Dec. 26tb. - Rev. He will occupy the churchcs n the day time and the Union school chapel in the evening. -Mr. Samuel Derindinger was arrested on Friday of last week for larceny, but was let off by paying costs and leaving town, which he did in quick time. -We suppose that the most frigbtened Germán on the free soil of America was the öne that John Schaffer had arrested the other day for stealing a pair of gloves from his saloon. Ile was glad to iix it up in auy way he said. - Tlie exercises at the close of the f all term of our Union school came off on Thuraday evening 23!, and reflected great credit on the acholare, as we.ll as on our gentlemanlyProf. J. II. Shepard and his corps of assistants. The exercises consisted of vocal and instrumental music, tableaus, declamations, dialogues, acting charades, burlesques, &c, and was carried througli in fuie style in every particular. -One of the Revs. of our town wanted the reform club to postpone the regular meeting on Sunday eveuing last so that the evangelist could have the hall.
