NEWS NOTES FROM AROUND WASHTENAW

One man sold 80 Christmas trees in Manchester. Some children were happy.

The congregation of Rev. Mr. Irion's church In Freedom presented the pastor with a handsome Majestic range.

The Manchester council has voted to give J. B. Ware a telephone exchange in Manchester with a phone rate of $8 a year. It is not known whether he will accept.

Miss Elizabeth O'Neil of Dexter and Mr. Thomas F. Rogers of Ann Arbor were married in Dexter Dec. 24 by Rev. H. A. Stonex.

William D. Schmidt of Dexter and Miss Fredericke Gall of the same place will be married Jan. 1.

The Manchester merchants report having had a good Christmas trade.

Rev. Mr. Potter, formerly pastor of he Dexter and Saline M. E. church, died in Detroit Dec. 21.

Mrs. Fred Simmons of Sheridan died Dec. 21. She was Miss Lucy English and was the daughter to B. G. English of Manchester. She was born in Manchester township in 1861, graduated from the Manchester high school and married Rev. Fred Simmons Dec. 27, 1898. She was a fine example of Christian womanhood.

George Kern of Manchester dipped 187 sheep recently. Unfortunately the water was too hot and nine of the sheep died.

The Saline school has a new flagstaff.
