Few Higher Than Washtenaw
The report of the Michigan State Farmers' Institutes for 1900-1901 which has just been published, show that one county institute was held in Washtenaw county during the year. This was at Ypsilanti Feb. 15 and 16. The total attendance at the several sessions was 1,093 and the average attendance per session was 216. These figures are neither high nor low. The largest average attendance per session at any county institute was 430 for the institute held at Ionia, and the smallest average attendance per session was 27 at the Schoolcraft county institute held at Manistique. The counties making a better showing than Washtenaw and the figures for each are: Ionia, 430; St. Clair, 333; Livingston, 300; Sanilac, 284; Lenawee, 268; Branch, 250; Hillsdale, 240; Monroe 238; Huron, 221; Jackson, 216. One day institutes were held in Willis, York, Chelsea, Salem.
