INSTALLATION OF G.A.R. OFFICERS

The newly-elected officers of Welch Post, G. A. R., were installed Tuesday evening by Past Commander W. R. Childs as installing officer. A very enjoyable program followed the installation. The Commander, James B. Saunders, made a strong address, encouraging the comrades to stand by the post. He said 19 years ago the post was organized with 36 charter members. Of that number  Comrades Dean, Greene, Jackson, Clark, W. A. Campbell, Noll, Martin, Campion, Sessions, Irwin, Saunders, Clark, W. J. Greenman, Pistorius, Donahue, Davidson and Joe T. Jacobs were still with them, with 54 others, who have joined since that time. Thirteen charter members have crossed the dark river, while seven have withdrawn or dropped by the wayside.

Past Commander Robert Campbell read an interesting reminiscence, "Love in War," and Col. Dean told an interesting story in the same lined. F. D. Denny gave same very taking recitations; Willis Johnson and City Clerk Harkins sang, as well as Johnson's colored quartet. Long's orchestra also rendered music. They were all recalled a number of times. An elegant supper was served by the Woman's Relief Corps. The pleasant evening will not soon be forgotten by those present.
