TO IMPROVE S.S. TEACHING

A SIX MONTH PROGRAM IS ARRANGED

Sunday School Union is Aroused to Needs of Better Pedagogical Methods

Are you a Sunday school worker or teacher? If you are you will be interested in the following six months' program as given by the Primary Union.

The Sunday school lesson for the coming Sunday will be taught each week, usually by teachers of the city, but occasionally by skilled teachers from outside the city. Miss Sara Whedon, of the High School, will give a most interesting course in Bible study in the New Testament. Miss Whedon has given this course with the greatest success in her own church for two years. This fact, together with Miss Whedon's well known ability and skill as a teacher, makes this a most desirable feature of the program.

A third and important part will be a review of some of the best books on teaching and reports on the same. The first book to be reviewed will be "Trumbull's Teaching and Teachers," a book highly recommended to us by Prof. A. S. Whitney, of the University, in one of his talks before the Union.

The need of better pedagogical methods in Sunday school work is one of its most crying needs. The Union has aroused a vital interest along this line and proposes to increase this interest by a study of the best books on the subject and lectures from those who speak with authority.

This week's program - Presentation of next Sunday's lesson by Prof. Coler; first lesson in Bible study by Miss Sara Whedon; a review of the opening chapters of Trumbull on "Teaching and Teachers" by Mrs. Kingsbury. Place, Newberry hall. Time, 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon.
