DISPUTE ABOUT WHICH HOSPITAL

An injured man should be removed

ACCIDENT WEDNESDAY

Revealed fact that electric line favors one and the city the other

There was nearly a repetition of the S. Litchard accident Wednesday night. Fred Feuerbacher, a married man living in Pittsfield, was driving home about 11 o'clock and when just outside of the limits on Packard street, the rig got over on the electric line.

The 11:10 car was approaching the city and before the motorman could put on the brakes, the crash came. In the center of the pile of wreckage Feuerbacher was pulled out from under his horse which had been instantly killed. Feuerbacher was placed in the car and brought into the city and transferred to Muehlig's ambulance.

The conductor of the car directed that Feuerbacher be taken to the University hospital, but Officer Collins, who was present gave orders that he be removed to the Homeopathic hospital.

It is understood that the electric line men have directions that if anybody is hurt by a car and the accident happens near Ann Arbor, the injured person shall be taken to the University hospital.

The conductor last night rather insisted upon following out his instructions, gentlemen. Take him to the Homeopathic hospital.

Quite an argument ensued, but finally Officer Collins was obeyed.

Marshall Warren was asked this morning if there were strict orders regarding the choice of the hospitals.

"Not exactly orders," he said. "I told the patrolmen that it would be better to take injured persons to the Homeopathic hospital, but Mayor Copeland has never said anything about it to me. It was my own suggestion."

Yesterday morning it was determined that Feuerbacher was only slightly injured about the legs.
