Council Pays $6,865.94

At the Last Session - The New Cement Crosswalks a Big Item

Chelsea, Mich., Jan. 25. - According to the report of Supt. W.W. Gifford of the Chelsea High school for December there were 386 enrolled, 1 transferred, 14 re-entered, 357 belonging at date. Of these 36 were non-resident pupils. The percentage of attendance was 95.5.

W.G. Kempf, of Hillsdale, greeted old friends here yesterday.

At the last session of the common council bills were paid amounting to $6,865.94; of which $2,054.44 was for a note given by previous board, $1,516.63 was a bond and interest. The remainder went for supplies, labor, etc., which included a great deal of new Portland cement crosswalks.

There is some talk of building a lunch room near D., Y., A.A. & J. line. Good move, gentlemen, let the improvement go ahead.

There seem to be several gentlemen here who are anxious to accept the $15 per month job of the D., Y., A.A. & J. people as their agent.

The Methodists of Waterloo will hold a series of revival meetings beginning next Sunday evening.

The seniors of the High School will have an entertainment at the opera house February 16. "Peek Brothers" will be the attraction.

The Bay View Reading circle is making arrangements for an exceptionally fine literary and musical program at the next meeting, Monday evening of next week.
