At last the storm has broken and Congressional Committeeman Helber no longer pays homage to Prince Henry of Adrian.

There is no doubt that Editor Helber has been strung for three years into the belief that he was to be Postmaster Pond's successor.

And there is no doubt but that Congressman Smith attempted to sidetrack Wedemeyer from jumping into the race for the congressional nomination this summer by offering him the postoffice.

And there is no doubt but that Helber was offered the assistant postmastership under Wedemeyer on condition that he would keep still about certain things.

Mr. Helber spurned this compromise and in the issue of his paper today he bas the following editorial crack at the congressman :

"We hear that  Mr. Charles Townsend of Jackson has drawn out of the race for congress. We wonder if he has also been promised the Post Office?  This seems to be Mr. Smith's shrewd way of removing competitors."

"This is chapter one."

A serial story may be  anticipated in the Neue Washtenaw Post.
