RABBIT HUNTING IN SUPERIOR

Superior, Mich., Feb. 1.- William Tuttle late located at Ypsilanti is making a canvass of this township in the interest of J. E. Ilgenfrltz' Sons, the Monroe nurserymen, is a genial man of pleasing address and by his straight forward methods of dealing has already secured a large patronage.

A party consisting of Daniel O'Brien, John Connor, Peter Furlongh, and son, headed by Rev. Fr. Kennedy were out to Superior on Thursday last on a hunting expedition. Superior has already become famous as a hunting ground and no one knows that fact better than Father Kennedy, who by the way, is considered a dead shot. When he runs his eye along the gun barrel any object within his range may as well throw up the sponge. Of course the party brought their appetites with them, which were sharpened to a keen edge, and after refreshing the inner man from Connor's well laden dinner table, the party struck out, and by their united efforts succeeded in putting seven rabbits to death. This, from mathematical calculation, would average about and three-quarter of a rabbit to each hunter, which, all things considered, was very creditable to the gallant sportsmen.

William Crippen informs us that his kerosene bills are running up at an enormous rate.

For the reason that there had been several surprises on different families ______s and adjoining neighborhoods, it occurred to Charley Palmer that some mischievous fellows like Eunis Twist, Frank Lambie, Lee Exelbur and others might hatch up some plot, and in all probability he would be the next victim, but one thing Charley had resolved upon he would never be caught napping; and for several evenings would hold his ear to the ground to detect any sound that would indicate approaching danger. Wednesday evening he was especially cautious, repairing to the yard fronting his residence and, baring his head to the cutting wind, stood for several minutes in a listening attitude, hoping that some kind angel would give him timely warning by a gentle tap on his eardrum.

But not a warning note,

Not a sound was heard

Around. beneath, o'erhead--

Charley chuckled to himself

"I'm too much for you boys,

Guess I'll just slide into bed."

Returning to the house, and after taking a few whiff's from his pipe, he was preparing to retire when the door suddenly opened and in an instant the spacious room was filled with a merry, good-looking crowd of people, who proceeded at once to take immediate possession of the whole establishment.

"It's all right," shouted Charley.

"I'm outgeneraled this time," And now being joined by his good wife they extended hearty greeting's to the invaders, who were given the freedom of the house from cellar to garret. The early evening hours were spent In social converse interspersed by several games of pedro, after which the company sat down to a sumptuous repast that would delight the eye and tickle the palate of a king. Then followed the presentation to Mr. and Mrs. Palmer, each with a beautiful rocker, which were accepted with the same kind spirit that prompted donors. The occasion is said to be one of the pleasantest of the season.
