Tom McNamara and W. R. Lehman

Are Negotiating for a race on 

Cavanaugh Lake

Chelsea, Mich. Several of the leading republican attended the Lincoln banquet at Jackson last evening.

Quite a number of friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Watson gathered at their home on E. Middle street and gave them a surprise. The occasion being the anniversary of their wedding.

The Peet Brothers, entertainers, will hold forth at the opera house Friday evening under the auspices of the senior class of the Chelsea high school.

There will be a social at the Congregational church Friday evening of this week, given by the Junior C. E. society.

It is reported that Tom McNamara and W. R. Lehman are making arrangements for a race on the ice at Cavanaugh lake in the course of a few days, and the various lovers of the race horse are all sure to be present to enjoy the sport.

The K. of P. will install their officers for the ensuing year on Thursday evening of this week.

John Maiers, an aged veteran of the civil, died at his home her yesterday. He leaves a wife, one son and one daughter. The funeral will be conducted by Rev. Fr. Considine from St. Mary's church.

Fred Loeffler, of Freedom, had a number of teams here yesterday drawing lumber for a new barn that he will erect on his farm in the spring.

Word was received her yesterday of the death of Alex Ross, of Chicago. He was a former Chelsea resident and leaves a wife and three children in Chicago and a number of relatives at this place to mourn his untimely demise.
