Health Officer Dr. W. B. Hinsdale has received the following letter from the state board of health in answer to his recent communication in reference to the phosphate works:

February 10, 1902

W. B. Hinsdale, M.D., Health Officer,
Ann Arbor, Mich.:

Dear Doctor - Please accept thanks for your letter of the 8th, relative to the nuisance alleged to be created by phosphate works, which you say are now located in Ann Arbor township. If these works at any time jeopardize the publish health of your city, your board should certainly take up the subject at once with your city attorney, and have action instituted, if necessary, in the courts, to abate and prevent the nuisance, should the township board refuse or neglect to do so.

By this mail I am addressing the president of the township board of health relative to the subject.

Very respectfully,

HENRY B. BAKER, Sec.
