BENEFIT CONCERT WAS A SUCCESS

The concert which was given Friday evening at Newberry hall for the benefit of the Second Baptist church was a great success and very enjoyable. The instrumental duet by the Misses Bullock and Sehaeberle was very well rendered. "Eternal Rest," sung by Mrs. M. Smothers, was one of the best numbers. Mr. Theo. Stanger delighted his auditors with a good recitation and James Harkins sang so well, as usual, that he was (obliged to respond to an encore, when he gave the "Irish Jubilee," which everyone thought better than the first. The solo and recitation given by Misses Lydia Jacobs and Miss Yale also deserve special mention. Mr. Eugene Marshall, the well known student from Detroit, gave a recitation, "Ode to Ethiopia." He was very pleasing. There was a good attendance and a neat sum was realized.
