FORSYTHE GOT

                           OFF EASILY

Farmers Petitioned for Court's Leniency

SENTENCED FOR 3 YEARS

Which was the Shortest Sentence Which the Court Could Impose

---------------------------------------

Ernest Forsythe, the young Pittsfield man who stole three horses in Ann Arbor, pleaded guilty to each charge Monday.

Many of the best citizens of Pittsfield petitioned Judge Kinne to be as lenient as possible with the young man on account of his previous good character.

Judge Kinne complied, and gave him the shortest sentence possible under law. The sentence was for three years at Ionia on the first charge and suspended sentence on the two.

Judge Kinne said that it was the young man's home surroundings that brought on the trouble, and that if he had had a better bringing up he would not find himself doing what he did do.
