ASSIST IN CAPTURING ONE HUNDRED FILIPINOS

The New City Council Held its First Meeting - Mrs. Hardenbugh Removes to Tecumseh

Manchester, Mich., March 20. - The newly elected village council held their first meeting Wednesday evening.

Miss Minnie Kramer is doing apprentice work in Mrs. C. F. Yocum's millinery shop.

Mrs. Margaret Haag received a letter this week from her grandsons, Frank and George Schill, who are in the Philippines. They are enjoying the best of health and are perfectly contented. Their company is now kept busy guarding 100 natives which they recently captured.

The 20th Century club met with Mrs. LaMar Brown Wednesday evening.

Mrs. Stephen Schittle, of Jackson, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stegmiller.

Mrs. F. A. Knotts, of Toledo, passed through here Wednesday on her way to Brooklyn.

Mrs. Caroline Unterkircher and family have moved into the "Farmers' Hotel", on the public square.

Miss Myra Spafard gave a 6 o'clock tea to the teachers of the village schools Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Lynn Hardenburgh and daughter left Thursday afternoon for their future home in Tecumseh. Mrs. Catherine Lehn accompanied them and will remain until they are nicely settled. Mrs. Hardenburgh will be greatly missed by her large circle of friends whose best wishes are extended to her.

Mrs. Fred Sparfard went to Brooklyn Wednesday.

The Young Men's Dancing club will give the second dance of the series on Friday evening. Whitmire's orchestra, of Ypsilanti, will again furnish the music, and as they gave excellent satisfaction before it is expected a large number will attend.

Mr. Johnson, of Ypsilanti, was here Wednesday and made arrangements with George Deatle to purchase butter and eggs and other produce for him at this place the coming season.

The funeral services of Mrs. Lizzie Amsden will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Brooklyn, unless other arrangements are made after the arrival of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Culver.
