POST LENTEN PARTY AT MANCHESTER

     Manchester, Mich., April 3. -- Florence and Harold Rouse, of Saline, are visiting at Lyman Hulbert's, west of town.
     Henry Rehfuss, of Grand Rapids, was in town this week visiting relatives and old friends. He left for Ann Arbor Wednesday to spend a few days with his parents before returning to Grand Rapids.
     Mrs. Chas. Hoffer and children left Tuesday for an extended visit with relatives in Grand Ledge and Bath.
     Mrs. Wm. Fischer, of Tecumseh, was the guest of Miss Bertha Lehn Tuesday.
     About forty couples attended the post-Lenten party at the opera house Tuesday evening. The out-of-town guests were Misses Magdalene Arnold, Viola Shull and Florence Brewer, Mesrs. Chas. Voegle, Raynor Brewer, Ernest Carr, of Tecumseh, Henry Rehfuss of Grand Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Van Every of Jackson, Russel Clark of Lansing, and Miss Anna Lighthall of Chelsea.
     Mr. and Mrs. Fred Staeb and children, of Saline, have been visiting at John Stegmiller's this week.
     Wm. Hoffer is in Grand Rapids this week on business. He intends going to Wisconsin before his return. 
     J. R. Blanchard, of Clinton, made a business trip to this place Tuesday.
     A general invitation is extended to the public to attend the ice cream social given by the L. O. T. M. at their lodge rooms Friday evening. The ladies have prepared something novel in the way of amusement and desire a good attendance.
     George Jedele, who is working in Hillsdale, has been visiting his parents this week.
     Some excitement was occasioned Wednesday evening by the burning out of a chimney on the old Gwinner block, although no damage was done.
     Mrs. J. A. Goodyear entertained a small company at cards Tuesday evening.
