GERMAN POLICE KEEP TABS ON HIM

     Jacob Schmid, a citizen of Ann Arbor, is under police surveillance at Plattenhardt, oberant Suttgart, Wuertemberg, Germany. If he had followed the advice of Notary Eugene Oesterlin he would now be free. He left his home years ago without fulfilling his military duties. He has been a resident of Ann Arbor for the past 15 years and has taken out his full citizenship papers. Under the requirements of the new law he was advised to have his citizenship papers certified to by the secretary of state at Lansing and the secretary of state at Washington, D. C., but he failed to do so. After being several weeks in his old home, the police took him in charge. Mr. Oesterlin has had his papers properly certified and has sent them on to Wuertemberg. Upon receipt of these he will probable be released. Mr. Schmid is a brickmason.
