PEOPLE WHO HAVE MONEY TO SPEND

WOULD BE INDUCED TO COME HERE BY A SANITARIUM

And is to be Hoped That the Projectors will Push the Enterprise to Completion

Now that the Ann Arbor Sanitarium company has been incorporated with a capital of $50,000, it is to be hoped that the projectors will push the enterprise to completion. This is a town of institutions. Our people have been slow in holding out inducements to factories and many of our citizens would discourage such enterprises here. But this sanitarium project is right in line with the institutions that have made Ann Arbor. Our citizens have been amply repaid for the outlays they have made in securing the University hospitals. But here is an institution which, while not coming into competition in any way with the University hospitals, would bring hundreds of people to Ann Arbor every year who do not come now, and people who have money to spend.

The primary object of the promoters of the sanitarium is to provide a place for the care of the patients who now come here for treatment by Ann Arbor physicians. There are now a sufficient number of these patients coming to Ann Arbor to warrant the erection of an elaborate sanitarium building and insure a profitable investment, and with the knowledge that such an institution is here the number of patients cannot fail to increase.

The name is associated everywhere with all that is skillful and successful in medicine and surgery and will be a never failing attraction to the invalid.

It goes without saying that a sanitarium like the Kellogg institution at Battle Creek would be of immense advantage to the business interests of the city.
