The Democrats Have Seven Majority on the Board

TOWNSHIP RETURNS

Manchester Heavily Democratic--Douglas, Harriman and Schumacher Make Big Runs in Ann Arbor

The board of supervisors stands 18 democrats and 11 republicans, a democratic majority of 7. Last year it stood 16 democrats and 13 republicans. The democrats gained three supervisors In Ann Arbor and lost one in Augusta. The board next year is as follows, members not on the board last year being starred:

Smith 41; board of review, Fred Jass 93, John Keppler 43; school inspector, William S. Smith 91, Chas. Morrison 45; constables elect George Staeb, William Foran and William Burlingame.

AUGUSTA.

The republicans elected their supervisor, justice, school inspector, board of review and constables, the democrats the rest. Majorities were as follows: Supervisor, John Lawson, r., 29; clerk, Frank J. Hammond, d., 12; treasurer, Arthur C. Coe, d., 38; school inspector, John E. Hewens, r., 41; commissioner of highways, John Dawson, d., 37; justice, James A. Blackmar, r., 28; board of review, Bert Darling, r., 38; constables, Frederick G. Norman, r., 42, George B. Payne, r., 39, Edwin S. Butts, r., 38, and Bert Pryor, r., 37.

BRIDGEWATER.

The democrats elected their entire ticket in Bridgewater, the majorities being as follows: Supervisor, George Walter, 52; clerk, Wm. H. Every, 38; treasurer, Wm. N. Martin, 45; highway commissioner, Albert L. Westphall, 53; justice of the peace, Franklin E. Johnson, 42; constables, Arthur Mitchell, Charles Sproull, Wm. Suchmacher and Gottlob Paul; member board of review, James Hogan, 42.

DEXTER.

The democrats carried the town except for commissioner of highways. There was no opposition to Michael E. McGuire for supervisor, George F. Welsh for clerk, or Frank E. Murray for justice. The majorities were: Clerk, Gilbert Madden, 7; school inspector, Lewis Larey, 16; highway commissioner, Edward W. Daniels, r., 3; justice, Henry Fleming, 25; board of review, Clifton Green 27; constables, William Ivory, Henry Thurston, Charles Walsh and William Meyers.

FREEDOM.

The democrats carried Freedom with a rush, electing their entire ticket. The majorities were as follows: Supervisor, Frank Dettling, 50; clerk, Edwin Kuhl, 62; treasurer, Charles H. Koelbe, 50; school inspector, Robert Kraft, 3; highway commissioner, John Grau, 53; justice (full term) Frederick Gross, 54; justice (to fill vacancy), Louis Koebbe, 51; constable, Joseph Kraft, Chas. H. Kiebbe, Frederick Haab; member board of review, Herman Niehouse, 48.

LIMA.

Lima was close, Fred C. Haist, d., being elected supervisor by 6. The other majorities were: Clerk, Otto D. Luick, r., 60; treasurer, Henry Luick, r., 55; school inspector, Edward G. Gross, d., 1; highway commissioner, William Beach, d., 23; justice, Fred Wenk, d., 4; board of review, John A. Schmid, d., 18; constables, Emanuel Eiseman, d., Henry H. Luick, r., Geo. Twinkley, r., Charles M. Morse, r.

MANCHESTER.

Manchester, Mich., April 8.--There was great rejoicing among Manchester democrats Monday evening. They feel very jubilant over the glorious result of the election, the entire democratic ticket being elected by majorities ranging from 57 to 189. Supervisor Landwehr received the largest majority. The total number of votes cast was 451. Below are the correct figures of the result:

This democratic town remained in the republican column, the democrats electing their clerk. Jay G. Pray, r., was elected supervisor by 29,  Bird, d., was elected clerk by 65 and Frey, r., treasurer by 64.

PITTSFIELD.

The republicans elected their entire ticket excepting that William Miller, d., was elected treasurer.

SALEM.

In Salem township the only contest was on clerk and justice of the peace, the republicans electing their ticket as follows: Supervisor, John Munn, 148; clerk, F. J. Tousey, 49; treasurer, Melvin Duncan, 151; school inspector, Wilber Jarvis, 145; highway commissioner, John Bennett, 144; justice of the peace, Joseph B. Herrick, 57; constables, Ira Hyde, Homer Brown, Melvin Duncan and Fred Williams; member of the board of review, Huson Alsbro, 148.

SALINE.

The democrats elected supervisor, treasurer and one constable, the republicans the balance of the ticket. The majorities were as follows: Supervisor, John Lutz, 16; clerk, Ashley B. VanDuzer, 59; treasurer, Wm. S. Rhodes, 50; school inspector, William Barr, 29; highway commissioner, Wilbur Cornish, 54; Justice, Matthew Seeger, 50; board of review, William Biddle, 10; constables Chas. H. Carven, d., Herman Gross, John Zahn and Sela Fitzgerald. Three hundred and ninety-four votes were cast.

SHARON.

The democrats of Sharon township elected school inspector, highway commissioner and justice of the peace, the republicans landing the balance of the ticket. The majorities were: Supervisor, Morton L. Raymond, 4; clerk, John W. Dresselhouse, 6; treasurer, George Gieske, 31; school inspector, John Kalts, 2; highway commissioner, Wm. B. Meyer, 7; justice, Daniel M. Durch, 1; constables, George Gieske and Byron Van Anarnum; member of board of review, C. C. Dorr, 9.

YORK.

The democrats elected their supervisor and part of the ticket. The votes cast were 435 and majorities were as follows: Supervisor, Edward P. Warner, d., 35; clerk, George F. Richards, r., 2; treasurer, Allen G. Forsythe, r., 3; school inspector, Wirt. J. Le Baron, d., 1; highway commissioner, Fred B. Gillett, r., 18; board of review, Leonard Josenhaus, r, 12; constables, Frank Seigle, r., 3; Frederick E. Reese, r., 2; Fred Suddaby, r., 1; George Bridges, d., 1. There was a tie on justice between Jerome B. Lashier and Othneil E. Gooding and a tie on school inspector to fill vacancy between Lewis Laflin and Reuben Miller.

YPSILANTI TOWN.

The entire republican ticket was elected. 128 votes being cast by the following majorities: Supervisor, Edgar D. Holmes, 34; clerk, Joseph E. Warner, 50; treasurer, Herbert K. Burrell, 49; school inspector, Charles L. Foster, 57; highway commissioner, Richard E. Gorton, 53; justice, F. T. Clement, 48; justice (vacancy), Seeley E. Davis, 47; constables, Evertt Wiard, John Magraw, Archie French, Wm. P. Elliot.

In Webster township the democrats did not fill out the slate, the republican ticket being elected on the following vote: Supervisor, Bert Kenney, 44; clerk, Frank Preston, 43; treasurer, John C. Wurster, 44; school inspector, Ralph Williams, 44; highway commissioner, Ray O. Buckelew, 44; justice of the peace, Charles Rogers, 44; constables, George Hennes, George Bucklacher, O. W.
