Salem, April 16.--Mrs. Sarah McGraw and daughter Carrina left yesterday for California, where they expect to make their future home. Mrs. McGraw has two sons there at Oceanside.

The Misses Grace and Nettie Crittenden of Ypsilanti were guests of Mrs. Maggie Whipple over Sunday.

Thomas Smith has moved back on his old place. He thinks there is no money in farming.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cale are now settled in their new home. Mr. Cale lately purchased the late Albert Mason's farm.

Rev. Shermerhorn recently paid Milford friends a visit. He returned Saturday.

We do not hear anything of our long talked of mail route. Has Uncle Sam forgotten us?

The Ladies' Dime society of the Salem Congregational church held their monthly meeting at Mrs. Libbie Hooper's home last Thursday. There was a good attendance.

H. B. Thayer is in very poor health and is confined to the house most of the time.

Mrs. James Bullock is seriously ill with little hope of recovery.

Mrs. Libbie Waters recently had a paralytic stroke which rendered her speechless. Fears are entertained for her recovery.

Mr. James Murray is making some attractive improvements in his house.

Miss Ruth Munn has returned to her duties as teacher in the Waterman school after being laid up for some time with whooping cough.
