STRANGE DISCOVERY BY NEWSBOYS

A large drawer, such as are used in office safe, was found Friday night by two newsboys on the west side of the Ann Arbor R.R. tracks in close proximity to the Ann Arbor Fluff Rug Company's building.

The discovery came about through one of the boy's badges becoming loosened from his coat and dropping through a crevice in the sidewalk. He raised one of the planks of the walk to recover it, when he noticed the safe drawer. In company with his companion he brought his find to the blacksmith shop of J. Volz, on Ashley street, between Huron and Washington streets.

The sheriff's office was notified by Mr. Volz and one of the deputies made an examination of the drawer, which apparently had been under the sidewalk where the boys found it for some time, as it is corroded with rust in several places.

The lock on the drawer had sprung and it was otherwise badly wrenched, indicating that it had been roughly handled by the persons who last had it in their possession.
