The republican county convention is pronounced Monday a genuine love feast. It was as far as the congressional nomination was concerned, but on the selection of state delegates and other things it was the kind of love feast which ensues after the lion has swallowed the lamb and the lamb has ceased kicking.

The old fight in the republican party, judging from what was said on the streets alter the convention and by men who were delegates as well as by men who were not, the harmony was largely a surface one. It was freely predicted that Bliss could not carry Washtenaw.

Delegates went home feeling, some of them, that they might as well not have come to the convention, as far as any part they took in it. Others simply said to the Argus: "We are harmonious, but just watch the vote next fall."

On the surface the convention was harmonious, but the undercurrent was very strong.
