OLD LIMA RESIDENT DEAD

Chelsea, Mich., May 19- Chelsea has one case of scarlet fever in a very mild form. The doctors do not think that it will spread so there need be no alarm felt by parents here.

The farmers of Freedom are complaining that it is so wet they are unable to plant their corn.

The Washtenaw County Pioneer Society will hold its annual meeting in the Methodist meeting house of the village of Chelsea on Wednesday, June 11. The executive committee at its meeting held Saturday afternoon made the appointment of all the necessary committees, so that everything possible is being done to have all who come well entertained.

Thomas S. Sears is dead. He died at his home in the township of Lima early Sunday morning of heart failure, aged 72 years. Mr. Sears' home for a great many years has been just on the eastern limits of the village of Chelsea and has been one of the leading monied men of Western Washtenaw and while his occupation has been that of farmer for a number of years he has been on the board of directors of the Chelsea Savings Bank and has large real estate holdings that have taken up his spare time. Without a doubt he was the largest taxpayer in Lima, he was a prominent factor in the Congregational church of this village, and a man who will be missed in this community. He leaves a wife but no children.
