GOLD WATCH AND MONEY

Taken From the Home of Dr. Dean Loree

BURGLARS DID WORK

While Family Were Absent at the May Festival - A Bold Job

A burglary which looks as if it had been committed by persons who were familiar with the house, occurred at the residence of Dr. Loree on Lawrence street last Saturday evening, while the doctor and his wife were attending the Festival concert.

It has been the custom of Mrs. Loree to lock the door on leaving the house and to hide the key in a place which was known to the students who room in the house.

Apparently someone had observed this habit and had noted the hiding place, and when the occupants of the house were all attending the Festival, they made use of this knowledge and entered the premises.

When Mr. and Mrs. Loree returned home late in the evening, Mrs. Loree noticed that things about the house were disarranged, but supposed that their dog had caused the disarrangement. On looking for the dog, however, they found him locked in a room on the second floor.

On making a search of the house they found that a gold watch belonging to Mrs. Loree and her purse, containing a small amount of money, were missing. The silver in the dining room and other articles of value were undisturbed. It looks as if the burglar was a person who did not wish to take anything which, when disposed of, might lead to his identification.
