HAPPENINGS IN AND ABOUT WILLIS

Willis, Mich., June 4 - Mr. Loren Haner, of Flint, an old veteran of the civil war was visiting friends in this vicinity last week.

Miss Annie L. Greenman, of Detroit, is spending a few days with her parents near this place.

Mrs. Alice Campbell, of Detroit, is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. G. A. Bethell, of this place.

At the time Bert Young's mill burned at this place, the depot was also burned but they have succeeded in saving most of the freight and the office desk but the telegraph instruments were burned. By 9 o'clock the next morning the railroad company had an office and telegraph established in a box car on a spur track.

Will Draper and wife were visiting at Henry Hammond's one day last week.

Elmer Briton is working for Charlie Hammond.

Mrs. Henry Fullington has got a very sore foot caused by stepping on a rusty spike one week ago last Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. George Collyer were visiting friends in the Island district.

Mrs. Annie White, of Detroit, is visiting friends in Saline one week ago last Sunday.

A woman by the name of Towler who had lived in S. P. Ballard's tenant house, died last Thursday after about three weeks illness leaving a little boy about three weeks old.

Mrs. H. W. Snodgrass and John Dawson have been having a pretty hard tussle with the mumps.

John Hewens is putting up about 40 rods of wire fence.

Miss May Fullington, of Detroit, is visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Fullington.

The Misses Lora D. Freining and Daisy Arnold, of Ypsilanti, called on C. H. Greenman's family last Sunday on their way from Carleton.

Thomas Essex and family, of Sumpter, were visiting with Earnest Essex and family near the Quaker church last Sunday.

Bert Harris and family, of Wayne, were visiting with Charlie Niles and Mr. P. C. Sherwood and son of Ypsilanti were calling on W. B. Sherman of this place last Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Walters and daughter Mabel were visiting with Mrs. Polly Willson, Mrs. Walters' sister, of New Boston, last Sunday.

Mr. John O'Brien, of Albion, was visiting his brother Thomas of this place last Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. Leslie Carter and lady, of Milan, were visiting with John Carter last Sunday.

Mrs. Ina Walters Champion, of the Island district, who has been in poor health for a long time, started for Battle Creek last Sunday, where she will take a course of treatment.

Charlie Hammond, who was very sick with the mumps for about three weeks, is able to be out around again.

John W. Greenman, of Ypsilanti, spent last Sunday with his parents in the Island district near Willis.

William Folley visited his sister, Mrs. Roy Sherman, near Willis last Saturday and Sunday.

Fred Roberts has not got any more faith in tramp farm laborers.

Mrs. A. B. Draper was visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Hammond, last Sunday.
