Sunday School Scholars Were Guest at Wedding Anniversary of Their Pastor.
Rev. and Mrs. H. E. Bell tendered a pleasant reception Friday night to the congregation, members of the Christian Endeavor society and pupils of the Sunday school of the First Union church at their home, 511 E. Ann street, from 8 to 10:30.
The gathering was a very pleasant one, and both the host and hostess proved to be royal entertainers. Sevral impromptu speeches were made, the first being given by E. C. Knapp, who spoke about the work he has done since he was made Sunday school superintendent.
G. L. Turner gave an idea of the work that he expects to do in the Sunday school this summer. The Lyceum and the work it has accomplished, was the subject of H. D. Grose's remarks. William Grennan gave an account of the church work in general.
At the conclusion of Mr. Bell's talk he surprised the guests by telling them that they had not only attended a reception, but that they had also celebrated his wedding anniversary. Delicious refreshments were served.
