A VIOLENT THUNDER STORM

One of the biggest thunder storms which has visited this place in some time swept over the city Thursday evening. While no persons were injured, considerable damage was done to trees in different sections of the city, signs were blown down and in several instances the roofs of houses were damaged.

The storm, which arose about 5 o'clock abated somewhat later, but shortly after midnight it again came up in terrible fury. A drenching rain, which came down in veritable sheets of water, fell and the streets for a time were like flowing streams.

Reports of the violence of the tempest have reached here from other close-by towns which it visited. In Manchester, it did considerable damage, blowing the roofs from houses and otherwise making havoc with property.
