Chelsea, June 13.- Last evening Mr. Snyder, of Ann Arbor, with his teams and tools passed through here on his way home. Mr. Snyder is the contractor who had the job of grading the Wolf Lake branch of the Boland line and the men report that they have completed the work of grading and distributing ties and now the iron gang is at work.

There was a young cloud burst here yesterday afternoon about 5 o'clock with some hail and considerable high wind. It is thought that the onion crop has been considerably damaged.

D. C. McLaren, the hay shipper at this point, is receiving large quantities of hay these days.

Our wood buyers have been selling off the clips they bought this season and so far they have received a fair margin on all they have sold.

The road districts about Chelsea are being worked and put in shape for the coming year, but the heavy rains these day will not help them very much.

The Gleaners of Waterloo will have an ice cream social at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rowe, of Lyndon, on Wednesday evening, June 18.

The Lyndon Baptist church will hold Children's Day exercises Sunday evening, June 15, at their church.

The M. W. of A. and R. N. of A. will serve ice cream, strawberries and cake at their hall on Saturday evening, June 21.

Next, Monday evening the M. W. of A. will meet in their hall to act upon a readjustment of rates.

John Kalmbach of this place, who has been a student at the Detroit School of Law, will be one of the class who graduate this evening. John will in all probability hang up his sheepskin and open a law office in Chelsea.

Cards are out announcing the marriage at the M. E. church of this place on Tuesday June 24, of Miss Margaret, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. I. Nickerson, of Adrian, and Mr. Fred S. Welch, of this place. Rev. Nickerson was the pastor of the M. E. church here last conference year.

Mrs. S. Tyndall, of Sylvan, will entertain the Ladies Aid society of the Baptist church at her home on Wednesday afternoon, June 18. The Chelsea ladies will leave here on the 2 o'clock motor.

Howard Brooks has the frame up for his new residence on Middle street west and the brick layers are at work. The building will be of brick veneer.

Geo. Weick is having an extensive addition built to his home on Middle street west.
