CHURCH STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

The Catholic church in Northfield was struck by lightning during the heavy storm at 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

The bolt of lightning struck the steeple near the top, tearing the shingles off of a long strip of roof. It then branched off and spent its force in the ground near by, ploughing it up for several feet.

The residents of the parsonage, which is only a few rods distant, felt no shock at all and except for the fright which they received were none the worse for the affair.
