Freedom, June 20.- Supervisor Frank Dettling and wife are rejoicing over a little daughter, who has just arrived at their house.

Lightning struck the house of Henry Bertke about 5 o'clock last Sunday afternoon. It tore a large hole in the roof, splintered a rafter, and a ball of fire struck the floor down stairs with-in a foot of where Mrs. Bertke and son were, tore a large hole in the carpet and then ran back of the stove and out through the wall. Some of the electric fluid badly burned Mrs. Bertke from the hip down, running along the side of her left foot, tearing a hole in her shoe and stocking and burning a hole in her stocking.

The Ladies' society of St. John's church held an ice cream social June 25 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold H. Kuhl, in Sharon.

Mr, and Mrs. Thomas Hazen, of Detroit, have been visiting P. Guinan.

Adolph Breitenwischer is home from the University for the summer.
