Salem, Mich., July 2 - The Salem Farmers Club met with Mr. and Mrs. J. Asplin, Wednesday and the attendance was very large considering the busy time of the year.

Prof. Lewis gave his farewell musical concert at Salem Monday night, to a crowded house.

Mrs. W. P. Lane was called to the bedside of her step-father, who is at present very ill. He resides near Northville.

Mr. and Mrs. S. Wilkinson have returned after an extended visit with their daughter in Long Point, Ill.

Miss Nancy Bennett is on the sick list.

Dr. John Bennett, of Detroit, made his father, Asher Bennett, a short visit :he past week.

Dr. C. S. Lane, of Whitmore Lake, made his people of Salem a flying visit Sunday.

The great abundance of rain in this section is doing great damage to growing crops.

Mrs. J. Austin is entertaining an aunt from Ohio; also her mother, Mrs. Shanklin, of Superior.

Miss Laura Austin has just closed a successful term of school in Superior district No. 4.

Eugene Mott, of Detroit, made his people in Salem a short visit over Sunday.

Salem has a dressmaking shop permanently situated on Main street.
