Arrangements have been made to have the annual reunion of the Tri-State Band association held in this city in August. Messrs. Theodore Backhaus, Frank Case and Louis Otto, three of the enterprising members of the Knights Templar band of this city, have had the undertaking in hand for some time and they now feel that their efforts to secure the reunion for Ann Arbor is assured.

Between fifty and sixty bands will take part in the reunion, comprising band organizations from Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. It is also almost definitely arranged that the well known Berlin band, of Canada, will be here. This is one of the best known and most proficient of Canadian musical organizations and its presence here no doubt will draw a large number of visitors to the city. Efforts will be made to have the railroads give excursion rates from surrounding cities and towns for the occasion. The reunion will last two and probably three days. In talking of the event today one of the promoters said: "It seems to me that the city ought to give some support to an enterprise of this kind. It means the bringing of considerable money to Ann Arbor and it also means that the city will be advertised through having this reunion here. It is very probable that we shall ask the council to give us an appropriation to further the undertaking. Ann Arbor is a musical city and I am sure that the people here will appreciate the entertainment that fifty bands would give them during a two or three days' stay In the city."

The local Knights Templar band, to whose efforts is due the bringing of the Tri-State band reunion to Ann Arbor, is one of the growing musical organizations of the state. It is made up of some of the best young men of the city to whose personal efforts is due the success of the organization and the proficiency the band has attained. They have not previously asked for support from the city, and they feel that now since they have made arrangements for the Tri-State reunion here that they will be given liberal support.
