Bennie Kettlewell, a son of Mrs. Kettlewell who is employed at Mack & Co.'s store, had a narrow escape from drowning in the mill race near the head gates, Sunday afternoon. He was in swimming, when he was seized with a cramp. He was going down for the third time when he was seized by Charles Nowak, who had swam to his rescue. When taken out of the water it was only with much difficulty that he was revived. The rescue by Young Nowak is said to have been a particularly brave one.
