SOME JOTTINGS FROM SALEM

Salem, Aug. 26. - Miss Nellie Arms is the guest of Miss Erma Lane. She will resume her studies at Olivet College next week.

Mrs. Frank Haywood, who has been very ill, is reported some better.

Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Walker, of Ann Arbor, have returned home after making Salem friends a visit. 

The soldiers reunion at I. Savary's was well attended. A good time is reported by all.

The social held at Ed. Clark's Saturday evening was a social and financial success.

Rev. and Mr. Allen, former pastor at Salem, now of Laingsburg, are visiting friends in Salem.

Mrs. Annie Little, of Chatham, Can., made her sister, Mrs. F.M. Simmons, a visit over Sunday.

Miss Ruth Munn entertained a friend from Detroit over Sunday.

Everyone seems to be going on the Sunday school excursion Thursday to Detroit and Belle Isle.

Miss Laura Webster is the guest of Mrs. Maggie Whipple at present.

Clarence Whipple has gone to California.

Threshing is the order of the day in Salem at present.

Rev. Allen filled the pulpit at the Congregational church Sunday, said church being without a pastor at present.

Mrs. Nellie Carben, of Grand Rapids, returned to her home last Monday, after making relatives and friends an extended visit.

Out genial mail carrier, N.A. Brokaw, has been confined to the house with rheumatism.

Everyone was pleased to see Grandma Vanatta out to the picnic last Thursday.
