Dr. Harry Nichols Buys $4000 Residence at Plymouth - Whitmore Lake News

----------------------------------------------------

Whitmore Lake, Mich., Sept. 19.- The Ladies' Aid society will meet at the residence of Mrs. G. W. McCormick on Wednesday next.

Dr. Harry Nichols has his household goods all packed up ready to move to Plymouth on Monday, where he has purchased a $4,000 residence. He has purchased a cottage here for his summer home. The doctor and his estimable wife take with them to their new home the kindliest sentiments from the whole community.

One of the most exciting school meetings ever held here occurred on Monday evening last. It was an adjourned meeting from the regular yearly meeting, called for the purpose of voting on building an addition to our school house, which is not large enough to seat all the children. In order to carry it a two-thirds vote was required and all the lady tax-payers were prevailed on to turn out and vote and they responded nicely. The project was carried by a vote of 46 for and 22 against. On the announcement of the ballot the women outdid the men in enthusiastic applause and an $800 addition will be built, to be completed by Jan. 1, 1903. Henry Stetson, Al. Stevens and Henry P. Dodge are the building committee.

As a result of a bet on building an addition to our school house, Prof. Wells D. White is entertaining about 20 young people and feeding them on peanuts, which was the wager lost by the professor. A whole barrel of peanuts.

Mrs. L. Tremper, of St. Johns, is visiting Mrs. Ida Holmes.

The foot ball players keep things humming here and they are a formidable score.

Wm. B Rane is haring another store put on his residence on Main street.

The masons are at work plastering the new residence of William Patton.

Mrs. Joseph Mason and daughter, Ruth, of Detroit, are the guests of her sister, Mrs. A. Stevens, at the Lake house.

Mr. Kennedy, of Ann Arbor, has been here for the past two days on business.
