FIRST SERMON AT WHITMORE LAKE

Whitmore Lake, Mich., Sept. 29.-- Sixty of the Lady Maccabees from South Lyon and Hamburg were entertained by the L. O. T. M. hive here at the residence of G. W. McCormick on Saturday. 

Mrs. Tousey, from Northville, and Mrs. VanSickle, from Salem, were the guests of Miss Libbie Lawton last week.

The repairs to the German Lutheran church are nearly completed. They cost about $1000, which was raised by the Ladies Aid Society. 

Rev. H. Palmer, the newly appointed pastor at this charge preached his first sermon here Sunday morning to a good sized audience and made a very favorable impression among his parishioners. 

Mrs. Hadley and Mrs. Wines, of Ann Arbor are spending a couple of weeks at the lake and are boarding with Mrs. Snell. 

Early Stewart and mother are spending their vacation at their cottage lately purchased from Mr. Stimson. 

Supt. F. N. Barker has notified his bean pickers to report at the elevators Monday morning for duty.
