DRUG STORE FIRE FRIDAY NIGHT

Spontaneous Combustion In Some Chemicals.

Fire Department Stopped Fire Before It Reached the Explosives.

A small blaze in the basement of the Dawson Brothers drug store on Huron street at 10:45 Friday evening caused quite a little excitement.  It is supposed that the fire started from an explosion caused by spontaneous combustion.  The fire was discovered by C. H. Dawson, who rooms over the store.  He heard the sounds of crackling wood and soon smelled smoke.  He called the fire department and when he reached the basement of the store he found some inflammable chemicals blazing. Directly over the spot where the fire started there were some dangerously explosive chemicals and had the fire burned through the floor a serious explosion would undoubtedly have occurred.                                                 The fire department responded promptly and the flames were soon extinguished.                                           About $100 worth of damage was done, the loss being entirely covered by insurance.
