The Rest of the Ticket Goes Republican--The Tale the Ballots Told

Ypsilanti gave Durand a majority of  112; Kirk, democratic candidate for state legislature, 202; Huston, democratic nominee for register of deeds, 182, and Gauntlett, candidate for sheriff, 18. Everything else went republican, Townsend, candidate for congress, winning by 109. While Durand carried the city by 112, Maitland, republican, for lieutenant governor, carried it by 116 and Powers, for auditor general, by 102. The vote by wards etc was as follows:

Col. Kirk made the big run on the democratic ticket tieing the first ward and carrying every other ward but the second. His majority in the city was 202. The vote was as follows:
