THE ELKS TO BUILD A TEMPLE

Expect to Erect One Within a Year

THE FUND IS STARTING

A Brilliant Spectacular Minstrel Show to be Given to be Given to Start the Fund

The Elks of this city are planning to build a temple, as they have long felt the need of larger and more commodious quarters. The funds for the temple must be raised and as a starter they are making extensive preparations to give one of the most brilliant and spectacular minstrel shows ever produced in the state and promise something in the securing of Nunn and Shepard, the big minstrel managers, that will surpass the fondest hopes of the funny man. The dates set for the affair are the 24th and 26th, however, if possible they will secure the Athens theatre for the 25th instead of the 24th.

Nunn and Shepard will be assisted by a number of high class vaudeville artists, such as Blanchard, Patterson, Hennessy and Reynolds. The great $5,000 attraction in the New and Original First Part will include sixty-eight people without the orchestra, which consists of a number of pieces. The costumes and scenery are to be of the most elaborate that money can buy and two special cars will be necessary to bring the scenery. Spectacular and electrical effects are by no means the least of the felicitous features and the committee say that they will be far superior to anything that Ann Arborites have ever witnessed here. The music will be new and catchy and the ballet the merriest. Elliott Brothers, the famous horizontal bar performers, will lend their talent to the attractions of the Second Part of the show. Mr. Shepard, of the Nunn & SHepard company, arrived today and a quantity of local talent beside professionals will be coached to make the show complete in every detail. Tonight will see the first rehearsal in the lodge rooms of the Elks on Washington street. The Elks say that they intend to have their temple built inside of a year and that this will inaugurate the movement. They do not intend to rest on their ars until they are able to dedicate the structure, which they propose shall be so magnificent that it will do honor to the city.
