MISSIONARY MASS MEETING

Addresses by Rev. Dr. Woodcock, E.W. Gibson and W.R. Butler - The Vested Choir Led the Music

A missionary mass meeting was held in St. Andrew's church Monday evening, the speakers being E.W. Gibson, of Detroit, W.R. Butler, of Mauch Chunk, Pa., and Rev. C.E. Woodcock, of Detroit. Rev. Henry Tatlock presided and introduced the speakers. The full surpliced choir was present and sang well known missionary hymns.

Mr. Butler, a Pennsylvania business man of large interests, spoke of the present great opportunity of work for missions. New gates had been opened and greater responsibilities were entailed.

Rev. Dr. Woodcock, in opening his address, spoke of St. Andrew's parish as the second oldest in the diocese. He told of how one woman had given her daughter to missionary work, and when she had been massacred, the son was sent, only to die, and then the woman had gone herself. She has given her all. He wanted each one of those who stayed at home to ask himself what sacrifice he had made for missions. Churches are selfish, like individuals that are selfish, do not prosper.

Mr. Tatlock said there was really no foreign missions - it was just missions. We all belonged to a common brotherhood. If we wanted out work at home to prosper we must give out to others.

A number of members of the other churched of the city were present at the meeting.
