ESCAPED FROM THE HOSPITAL

John C. Burns, proprietor of a saloon bearing his name at 204 N. Fourth avenue, fell Monday about 11:30 at the Michigan Central tracks and Detroit street, breaking his left arm above and below the elbow and cutting an ugly gash in the back of his head.

Burns had been at the University hospital since last Thursday, but Monday escaped from there and came to his saloon. His bartender remonstrated with him for having left the hospital and finally persuaded him to return and stay for a week. Instead of turning in the direction fo the hospital, Burns went on north until he fell. The University ambulance was summoned and he was taken back to the hospital. Burns is said to have threatened suicide several times during the last few weeks, but no one has paid attention to his threats.
