SHARKEY GETS FIFTEEN DAYS

HE IS THE MAN WHO DOES NOT SLEEP

Has Been in a Dime Museum and Expects to Melt the Students When He Gets Out

The indomitable Shockey was not at all abashed when Justice Doty gave him 15 days in the country jail for drunkenness when he was brought up Monday. He says that he will gladly spend the time in meditation and prepare himself for the great work to which he believes himself called. Shockey is decidedly a unique character and held his prison mates spell bound today when he told them his history. He has addressed a university audience and posed in a glass case at the Dime Museum, 157 Clark street, Chicago, as the man who walked from New York to San Francisco.

"When I have rested here for 15 days," says Shockey, "I will go forth and melt the students with my tales. They are all human and will help us to build the orphans home we are working for at Ada, Ohio. I have been in many places, but I always like best to reach a college town. At Princeton they let me speak to the students in the college auditorium and I hope President Angell will let me do the same here."

Though the author of this statement has a wild expression in his deep-set eyes, he possesses a marvelous command af language and is capable of saying some very witty things.
