Two Appointments By Sheriff Gauntlett

Sheriff-elect Gauntlett was in the city Monday morning with his brother William Gauntlett, of Milan, whom he will appoint under-sheriff and turn-key. It will be remembered that the sheriff recently lost his wife and his brother and family will occupy the jail residence and make a home for him.

William Gauntlett, the new under-sheriff was born in York township in this county and has lived in the county half his life. He has paid taxes in the county for the past 17 years, although his home for part of that time has been just across the line. He is highly esteemed in Milan and has always been a democrat like his brother the sheriff. They two are the only democrats in the Gauntlett family.

The only other appointment that Sheriff Gauntlett is ready to give out is that of Fred Gillen, as deputy sheriff. Deputy Sheriff Gillen has a fine record as an officer.
