Victoria, B. C., Dec. 15. - Mail advices from Chankking, in the Szechuan province of China, report that both the cities of Meichou and Kiatingfu have had their gates closed and a state of siege declared, owing to the numerous bodies or armed boxers in their vicinity, it being feared by the officials that the insurgents may take the cities by surprise. Troops were sent to raise the siege of the two cities but failed.
