Archbishop Of Canterbury Dead
London, Dec. 24. - Most Rev. Frederick Temple, archbishop of Canterbury and primate of all England, who had been ill for some time past, is dead. The archbishop passed away quite peacefully at 8:15 o'clock Tuesday morning in the presence of his wife and two sons. Right Rev. Frederick Temple, D. D., was the son of the late Major Temple, for some time governor of Sierra Leone, and was born Nov. 30, 1812. He was educated at Blundell's school, Tiverton, and at Ballloi college, Oxford, graduating with double first class honors In 1842. He was appointed archbishop of Canterbury and primate of all England on Oct. 26, 1896, succeeding Rev. Edward White Benson.
