Pittsfield Junction, Jan. 28. - This township is to have a rural telephone line in the near future. 

Sleighing parties were all the go before the recent thaw. 

Country Commissioner Foster visited the schools of this township last week. 

Large numbers of hogs are dying in this vicinity from an unknown disease. 

Mrs. Wm. Straith is visiting Battle Creek friends. 

Myron Day has moved onto the Thomas farm near here. 

La grippe is prevalent.

F. Summer visited friends at Stockbridge last week.

A social for the benefit of the Stone Sunday school was held at Chas. Rose's, Friday evening. A large attendance and a fine are reported. 

John Sutherland is also very sick with the same disease. The heartfelt sympathy of friends and neighbors is extended to the family.

Walter Sutherland has returned to Detroit to work.

James Webb has been laid up with rheumatism lately.

The Stone Sunday school has a new traveling library.

George Cubitt nearly lost his house by fire one evening last week, caused by clothing hanging too near a chimney. Prompt and vigorous action subdued the flames with but slight damage.

James Summer has gone to Ann Arbor to work.
