Emery, Jan. John McElroy spent Thursday with his brother, who is slck iii Detroit. Mrs. Dr. Johnson of Grand Rapids, bas been the guest of her brotber, X. Sutton. Miss Lena Packard of tlie Ypsilanti Normal, spent Saturday and Snnday wlth Mrs. Courtney Burlingame. The Northfield Pedro Club was entertained Frtday night by Mr. and Mrs. E. Brokaw. Prizes were won by Dan Sutton and Mrs. Albert Groves. The next meeting will be at James Hilliie's. Sutton school opened Jan. 26 wlth a largo attendance. The teacher, Miss Bertha Wilkinson, who has been spending her vaeation in the hospital, comes back very much improved in health. Farmers of this vicinity are getting their ice houses well filled with very flne ico. Mr. Bllghton of Detriot, lectured last night to an audlence of neighbors and trends at the home of E. E. Leiand. Ho lias been a misslonary In Cuba and told many interestlng stories conee rolng the Uves oí people tbere and the hardsliips he endnred. The L. O. T. M. M. of this place will jíivo a pedro party at the Maccabee hall on next Tuesday evening. Light refreshments will be servefl.
