Emery, Mich., Feb. 9. - Mr. and Mrs. Tom Burd have returned to their home in Toledo. Mr. Burd had been a constant watcher at the bedside of bis father during his last illness and death. Mr. Gipfel, Mrs. Carrie Isherwood of Toledo, and Frank Sutton, of Detroit, attended the funeral of the late D. O. Burd.

The Penny School club was entertained at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Steffee on Friday night. A neat little sum was realized from the supper and art gallery. A good time was enjoyed by all present.

Rev. Mr. Coffin, of South Lyon, and Bev. Mr. Whitney, of Salem, conducted the funeral services of the late D. O. Burd of tbis place. Mr. Coffin delivered a most eloquent sermon to the large audience who gathered to pay their last respects to the dead. The O. I. S. met at the home of Mrs. Ladaway last Thursday. It being the animal meeting, the following new officers were elected: Mrs. Euene Bartlett, president; Mrs. Geo. Pfeifle, vice president.
