U. S. May Lose Danish Isles

Washington. Feb. 12. - Secretary Hay and Danish Minister Baun have been discussing the approaching termination by limitation of the time allowed for the exchange of ratification of the treaty providing for the cession to the United States of the Danish West Indian islands. There are some slight indications that there has been a change of mind respecting the advisability of consummating the treaty on the part of the Danish government, and if the time limit expires next June without a reconsideration the department will abandon further efforts to secure the islands.
