Announcement has just been made at a meeting in Montreal of the Marconi Wireless Telegraph company that it promises to revolutionize the signaling to ships. Marconi has almost perfected an apparatus to measure the distance between a ship at sea and a station on land, says the New York Times. This will be accomplished by means of a movable disk, which will be affected by the current from the ship. Naturally, the further the ship the weaker the current. The disk will have stationary marks, which will thus register the exact distance from ship to shore. Stations will be established all along the St. Lawrence river and gulf to Belle Isle.
